The GigPig integration creates and updates event entries for a place and sets their categories on every sync. This page explains where each category comes from and how to control it.
Where categories come from
Each sync sets the event category from the GigPig artist tier: karaoke, comedy, quiz, DJ, or live music for a solo act, duo, or band. If the tier changes later, the new category replaces the old one. Categories an editor added on the event stay.
Default categories
The Default categories setting on the place's GigPig connection adds event categories to every event that place imports. Sync adds them on top of the category from GigPig, so a place with a default of Karaoke tags every event as karaoke as well as with its own category.
To tag each event with only the category GigPig sends, clear the default categories on the place. The next sync takes the old defaults off the imported events. Sync removes a default only after you take it off this setting, and categories added by hand on the event stay.
The events widget filters on the category label, so the saved label has to match the label in the page filter exactly.
Add day categories
The Add day categories switch on the place's GigPig connection is off by default. Turn it on and each sync tags the event with the weekday it happens on, such as Friday. Turn it off and the next sync removes those weekday tags.
Weekday tags use existing event categories. Each category label has to be the weekday name, such as Friday, or sync skips that day. Categories from GigPig, default categories, and categories added on the event stay when you turn the switch off.
